Bestech Slasher

This past week, we checked out the Slasher from Bestech Knives and fell in love with it due to its smooth action and great feel in the hand and pocket.

The specific model we checked out was the Slasher BG43A-1 which had gray micarta scales and a sonewashed D2 sheepsfoot blade. The knife also comes in other color-ways with brown, blue and green micarta as well as a choice of stonewashed or black blade.

Although D2 is considered a mid-range steel, it's more than sufficient for your every day cutting tasks and features a hardness rating of 59-61 depending on treatment and quenching. It's will hold an edge for a considerable amount of time and is easy to sharpen or hone the edge. Bestech knocked this one out of the park by giving their blade a beautiful sheepsfoot design and a stonewashed finish.

The Slasher features dual thumb-stud openers and ceramic ball bearings to give you smooth and fast action whether you use a thumb flip or the middle finger spydie-flip for opening. For a lockup, Bestech used its own version of the bar lock that creates a nice "click" when the blade is fully opened letting you know you have a secure lockup that won't close until you want it to. The lock is easily disengaged on either side by pulling back away from the blade with your thumb and/or  index finger.

As for the body of the blade, the handle feels absolutely amazing. The Slasher has a sizeable finger groove and smooth bevels for nice ergonomics and then topped it off with lightly textured micarta scales giving you a firm grip. It also has light rounded jimping on the spine of the blade near the handle for when you need to apply a little more pressure to your cuts.

The pocket clip is made out of sturdy steel that is thick enough to hold its shape but flexible enough that it won't tear up your pocket. It has a rounded design and is set up for right-hand tip-up carry deep in the pocket.
